Your safety is our priority. We all need to work together to keep our community safe.

Life in residence: Connections, social and academic support

Expedition:Connect

Everyone in residence is automatically registered in Expedition: Connect—our new program that connects students living on campus with those intending to arrive later on.

Get to know your peers on and off campus through a unique online cohort experience that brings together small groups of students with student leaders, faculty and staff. Connections supports your academic success while connecting you to the resources, friends and leadership opportunities that make life in residence great.

Academic cohorts and interest groups

Residence continues to support student academic and personal success through our cohort community programs. Join a cohort whose members share your interests, your faculty and much more!

Programs and activities are led by our academics in residence, peer leaders and specialists.

Residence community supports

Every residence community has highly trained student staff (Residence Assistants) living within the community. Residence Assistants provide individual resident support and community building activities, while academics in residence and peer tutors provide academic support for your studies.

24/7 on-call support is always available from our professional staff.

Safety

Health and safety in residence

Residence Services continues to follow all preventative health measures as directed by Alberta Health Services, the Government of Alberta, the Government of Canada and the University of Alberta.

Keep a physical distance
Physical distancing isn’t rude, it’s safe! Leave two metres (six feet) of space between yourself and others.

Clean surfaces in your room
We’re disinfecting high touch points around residence, but do the same in the areas inside your residence unit.

Residents only
The health and safety of residents is a priority, so no non-residence guests are allowed in residence.

Capacity in common areas
Follow all posted capacity numbers in common spaces, kitchens and elevators.

Masks are required
Always wear a mask in common areas in residence as well as anywhere you can’t maintain physical distancing.

Check in on your health
If you feel sick, notify Residence Services staff and isolate for 10 days or until symptoms resolve, whichever is longer.

Wash your hands
Take at least 20 seconds to wash your hands before and after eating and avoid touching your face.

Residence fitness centres closed
Check out Campus & Community Recreation fitness programs and spaces on campus.

Follow all safety measures
If you’re worried someone is not following safety measures, tell your RA or email reslife@ualberta.ca.

Isolation accommodation program

Students who are required to isolate can access a support package that includes a single room with private bathroom, meal delivery, daily check ins and access to campus and community health services.
