SHINE (Student Health Initiative for the Needs of Edmonton) for Dentistry is a student run outreach program established through the University of Alberta and the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. Every Saturday at the Boyle McCauley Center, dental faculty instructors and dental students from the University of Alberta and community dentists dedicate their time to provide dental care to the youth of Edmonton who cannot afford dental service. SHINE dentistry was established to provide services to a high need youth population in the inner city of Edmonton, build social responsibility among students, expose students to clinical practice earlier in their training, and build interdisciplinary relationships. Supported by our annual golf tournament fundraiser, as well as the dental and medical community of Edmonton, our outreach program has been able to provide a wide range of treatment and prevention for Edmonton's youths who have had minimal past care due to financial difficulties.
SHINE Dental's 7th Annual Texas Scramble Golf Tournament will be taking place on September 15, 2012, in collaboration with the Edmonton & District Dental Society. This Texas Scramble tournament will involve hole competitions. The generous donations from our sponsors, and the entry fees of the golfers who attend every year, will significantly affect SHINE dentistry's operations. With the help of the University of Alberta, the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and the support of the local dental community, the SHINE tournament has become our major fundraiser event.

Registration Fee: $150 including GST per golfer
