The School of Dentistry celebrated National Philanthropy Day on Friday, November 16. This annual awards luncheon is held to honour and acknowledge outstanding achievements by individuals, foundations, corporations, fundraising volunteers and nonprofit organizations who contribute their time, talents, financial support and other resources to the philanthropic community in Edmonton and beyond.

Founded in 1960, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP advances philanthropy through over 30,000 members in 222 chapters throughout the world, and is the proud host of the event.

The School of Dentistry nominated and recognized two of their associations-The Alberta Dental Association & College (ADA&C) and the College of Registered Dental Hygienist (CRDHA).

"Through their examples of giving, our associations set the bar high for creating a philanthropic culture," said Dr. Tom Stevenson, Associate Chair Student & External Affairs, School of Dentistry.

"We receive a tremendous amount of support from both the ADA&C and the CRDHA," said Dr. Paul Major, Professor and Chair, Senior Associate Dean, School of Dentistry. "The support we receive comes in many different forms and recognizing them at today's luncheon is one way we can show our appreciation for their amazing work."
