A Reason to Smile

Having a regular dental exam is the best way to maintain your good oral and overall health.

Services such as dental hygiene care (cleaning), fluoride application, nutritional analysis, sealants, oral health care instruction, are available in the new state-of-the-art Kaye Edmonton Clinic. Students in the Dental Hygiene Program at the University of Alberta provide treatment with the supervision of Registered Dental Hygienists.

Some of the regular patients of the clinic, such as Robert Gilmour and Rai Batra, had come to the clinic initially for the reduced prices offered. But, in Robert Gilmour's case, his first dental hygiene exam revealed a tumour on his neck-a discovery that could have saved his life.

Since then Gilmour has become a regular at the school's dental clinics. "I don't just come here because of the money I save," he says. "I come here because of the quality of care I receive."

Rai Batra agrees, stating that the quality of his treatment is in some ways better than that of a private practice dentist, as the students are supervised by highly qualified professionals and are very thorough in their work. "They work very hard to please the client," says Batra.

Clinics operate from September to April every year, except during Christmas break and for statutory holidays.

From Monday to Friday, our clinical hours are:

  • 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM and 1:30 - 4:30 PM

Phones are answered throughout the day. If the line is busy, your call will be transferred to voicemail so you may leave a message. Calls will be returned on the same day, or on the following business day.

Appointments in our teaching clinic are typically 2.5 to 3 hours long, and multiple visits may be required to complete your care.
