Are you Afraid of the Dentist?

The School's IV Conscious Sedation program is looking for patients.

19 December 2013

The School of Dentistry's IV (Intravenous) Conscious Sedation program is the only program of its type in Canada providing a formal curriculum of comprehensive sedation, clinical training, while also delivering charitable care.

Intravenous Conscious Sedation (aka IV sedation) is when a drug, usually of the anti-anxiety variety, is administered into the blood system during dental treatment, providing a state of deep relaxation. Patients remain conscious, and are able to understand and respond to requests from the dentist.

This program will run in February and June of 2014, and we are looking for patients. Dentists will have an opportunity to use the skills they learned in the clinical part of the course, and patients will have their care provided free of charge.

If you are interested in becoming a patient, please email cde@dentistry.ualberta.ca to be added to the sign up list.
