The Orphan Well Association is a unique not for profit organization that is funded by the upstream oil and gas industry in the province of Alberta. The mandate is to manage the abandonment of orphan wells, pipelines, facilities and the reclamation of associated sites. Unlike an oil and gas producer, this allows the Orphan Well Association to focus solely on abandonment and reclamation activities as the core business. Ms Payne, P Eng, will talk about the orphan well program, the importance and necessity of it and the reclamation work involved.
