Educational Research & Scholarship Fund

Applications for this inaugural competition should be submitted to Heather Good by midnight Friday, October 30th.

14 September 2015

The School of Dentistry has formed the Educational Research & Scholarship Centre (ERSC).

To support the ERSC's educational research, it is with great pleasure that we announce the launch of the Educational Research & Scholarship Fund (ERSF), a new funding opportunity.

A major role of ERSF is to stimulate and support educational research and applied scholarship to teaching and learning. As the School of Dentistry embarks on the curriculum renewal for Dentistry and Dental Hygiene programs, it is anticipated that new ways of delivering content will be envisioned and as such the ERSC aims to support faculty with their projects through this funding envelop.

All faculty involved in teaching in the School of Dentistry are eligible to apply for funding, and there will be TWO COMPETITIONS each year. The proposals will be evaluated by a subcommittee of the Educational Research & Scholarship Centre (ERSC).

Priority will be given to those applications that demonstrate the following: a collaborative effort within the School of Dentistry or between departments at the University of Alberta; leverage of the research findings towards a larger external grant application; knowledge translation of the experimental design towards practical modalities for improving teaching and learning outcomes.

The maximum amount of a grant awarded by this fund will be $3,000.00.

Applications for this inaugural competition should be submitted to Heather Good (hgood@ualberta.ca) by midnight Friday, November 6th.

In addition, we are in the process of planning a workshop to facilitate discussion about educational research. We hope this workshop will stimulate ideas for new educational research projects and collaborative initiatives.
