Dentistry for Life campaign reaches halfway mark

03 December 2018

Our goal was to raise $8 million over four years for the Dentistry for Life campaign which is aimed at improving access to care, student support and wellbeing, and research and innovation. With just over two years into the Dentistry for Life Campaign, we are already more than half way there.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, who recognize the importance of giving back to dentistry and collaboratively working together to improve the oral health of our communities, many programs have benefitted from the fundraising campaign.

The Geoffrey and Robyn Sperber Craniofacial Biology Research Fund was setup with just over one million dollars. These funds will be used to stimulate and support research in craniofacial growth and development, physiology, genetics, and structure by faculty members.

To date we have raised $571,000 in cash donations and approximately $285,000 as gift-in-kind for the new Boyle McCauley Dental Clinic. We still have $444,000 to raise to reach the $1.3M goal.

Class Legacies is a growing part of the Dentistry for Life. Classes are able to leave a lasting legacy by sponsoring an operatory in the School of Dentistry Oral Health Care Clinic. With a class donation of $25,000 towards the campaign, classes have the opportunity to have an operatory named after them that recognizes the generous donation made.

These class legacies have started to come in and the signage started appearing a few weeks ago. The DDS Class of '67, '68 and '88; Dr. Michael Boykowich (DDS '30); and Murray Dickson (DDS '67) in memory of Raymond Dickson (DDS '42) have all made generous donations. The Carlyle Radiology Suite was named in recognition of the generous support by Dr. Terry Carlyle and Mrs. Dawne Carlyle. Kingsway Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Suite was made possible by Kingsway Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
