A day in the life of Nargis Rajaback

03 October 2018

Have you met Nargis Rajabick? She is the psychometric assistant with the School of Dentistry. She's been with the school for five years now, and she is also a new Canadian citizen of our great country. Take the next few minutes to get to know her a little better.

What is your role?

As a psychometric assistant, I successfully save examiners time by creating scan-able documents and clearing up exam data which improves accuracy. Furthermore, I help in organization of conferences that are held to keep up-to-date the exam bank. In my recently accepted responsibilities, I make certain that everyone stepping into the School of Dentistry feels welcomed and appreciated.

What is one of your proudest moments at work?

When I was able to abridge a five-sheet survey into a two-sheet survey contrary to my first assumption that it was impossible.

Tell us something we don't know about you that you are okay with sharing?

I have been studying the nature of consciousness and kinesiology for several years; it never ceases to amaze me how much of our likes and dislikes are the results of our cherished beliefs, how much are our beliefs the fixed outcomes of our repetitive thoughts and, above all, how much are our feelings caused by our thinking.

If you weren't doing what you do now, what would you be doing?

I would be working in Afghanistan, empowering women, educating young girls on their rights and that they are as good and as capable of attaining their goals as their brothers.

What's the best advice somebody has ever given you?

"Be patient," said Cecile. It's the best advice because when patient, I am an attentive listener and a helpful friend, and I am kind to people at all times, under all circumstances, which is what makes me the happiest.

Favorite quote, movie or book?

The Shawshank Redemption: I love this movie because the protagonist is confident without being conceited, courageous without being rebellious, and in the process of finding freedom, he reforms the society of the prison, helps others, and he does all this through non-violence. He does it with patience and kindness.
