Boyle

We are proposing to redevelop the Boyle McCauley Dental Clinic into a modern eight-chair facility. Our goal is to raise $2 million for this new clinic.

The School of Dentistry is presently exploring a partnership opportunity with the Boyle McCauley Foundation to increase access to oral health care among people living in poverty in the inner city of Edmonton. The Boyle McCauley will be responsible for day to day operations of the clinic, including support staff salaries, facility and equipment maintenance and sundries. The redeveloped Boyle McCauley Clinic will have capacity to provide dental care for approximately 900 patients per year who would not otherwise have access.

The Boyle McCauley present operates a small dental clinic with contract staff dentists. Under the guidance of the School of Dentistry, the Dental Students Association operates the "SHINE" dental clinic within the Boyle McCauley Clinic on Saturdays. Volunteer proctors from the dental community provide supervision to students as they provide free dental treatment to inner city youth. We are proposing the redevelopment of the Boyle McCauley dental clinic into a modern 8 chair facility that will provide opportunity for dentistry and dental hygiene students to provide dental care under supervision, while also allowing continuation of staff dentist delivered care for patients who require treatment beyond the educational scope of the learners.
