Endo Referrals from Dentists

Endodontics is a discipline in the Undergraduate DDS Program in the School of Dentistry. Endodontic treatment is provided by students who are supervised by endodontists in the Oral Health Clinic in the Kaye Edmonton Clinic building, 11400 University Avenue.

Fees: The fees for endodontic treatment at the School of Dentistry Oral Health Clinic are substantially less than the those in the ADA&C 2018 Fee Guide as the treatment is provided by students over several appointments.

Our range of fees for endodontic treatment (single, 2, 3, 4+ canal RCT) is between $83 - $149. These fees are equivalent to those we charge for uncomplicated extractions and surgical extractions – we are hoping to remove the financial barrier for patients when they are forced to make the decision of keeping a tooth vs extracting it.

Not every case is suitable for undergraduate students. Cases that are not desirable for Undergraduate Endodontics are:

  • teeth that have been previously restored with a crown (unless previously accessed by a dentist)
  • teeth that have been previously endodontically treated
  • teeth that do not have visible canals on the periapical radiograph (eg. calcified canals)
  • second molars that are not easily accessible
  • patients who desire a single or low number of appointments to complete the work needed
  • teeth with complicated root anatomy (division of canals within the root system, trifurcated premolars, dens-in-dente, radix entomolaris)

Endodontic treatment offered by the School of Dentistry’s Undergraduate DDS Program can be a viable option for those patients who, because of the costs associated with endodontic care in private practice, would consider extracting a tooth rather than saving it.

To refer a patient, please complete and fax (780-407-5694) the DDS – UNDERGRAD ENDODONTICS referral form or call our office at 780-407-5550. Patients may also call us directly. The patient will be assigned to a student for an endodontic consultation before proceeding with treatment.

If patients are in pain they can access the School of Dentistry Oral Health Clinic for emergency care, available most days of the week, by calling 780-407-5550.
