New Patient Screening Information

Note: We are currently seeking patients in need of root canals, extraction and complete dentures (patients without any natural teeth). If you require one of these specific treatments, a partial screening may be required to determine eligibility for our program ie: confirmation of treatment required.

We are not booking screening appointments at this time. Please check back periodically for updates.

New Patient Screening

  • New patients wishing to receive dental care at the School of Dentistry are booked in a new patient screening appointment to evaluate if their dental health care needs are suitable for treatment by our students. These appointments are available periodically throughout the school year and last about 15 minutes. Please arrive 30 minutes before your first appointment and for all subsequent appointments.
  • Patients are asked to bring recent copies of any x-rays to this appointment and details of any current medications they are taking. Although there is no charge for this screening appointment, there is a fee for any x-rays taken at this appointment. (depending on the x-rays taken approximately $100).
  • Interpreters are required for patients who do not read or speak English.
  • Children cannot accompany patients to any appointments.
  • Suitable patients will be contacted in 6 to 8 weeks to schedule a second appointment which includes a complete dental examination and lasts 3 hours. Patients can expect to pay between $60-$100 at the end of this appointment.
  • Patients must also come in the following week for a third, one-hour long appointment to discuss treatment options and approximate costs.
  • Please note that if patients do not attend for their initial screening appointment or, if, for whatever reason, they do not cancel this appointment without 48 hours' notice, they will not be re-scheduled for future screening appointments.
  • Please be advised that our dentistry program is closed from mid-July until early September.
  • If you wish to book a screening appointment, please call (780) 407-5550.
