Dr. Margaret Mackey gave the 2010 Francelia Butler Lecture to the Children's Literature Association in Ann Arbor, Michigan, earlier this month.
The lecture, named in honour of the Association's founding director, a significant champion of the academic study of children's literature, is one of the major events of the annual conference.
This year the conference theme was "Children's Literature and Media," and Dr. Mackey's lecture was entitled, "The Case of the Flat Rectangles: Children's Literature on Page and Screen."
