Dr. Zhao and her co-author Dr. Andreas Strotmann, a former postdoctoral fellow with Dr. Zhao at SLIS, have signed a contract with Morgan & Claypool Publishers to write a book on citation analysis as part of the Synthesis Lectures on Information Concepts, Retrieval, and Services edited by Gary Marchionini, a past president of ASIS&T and the 2011 winner of the ASIS&T Award of Merit.

Recent years have seen a burgeoning interest in citation analysis, the methodical investigation of how scholars make use of each others' work, to help address interesting research, management or information service issues such as university rankings, research evaluation, knowledge domain visualization, and library reference work and collection management. This book will critically examine theory and methodology of citation analysis as well as its practical application in a variety of fields using modern citation network analysis and visualization tools.
