The School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Alberta is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Angela Pollak as a Postdoctoral Fellow, starting July 2016

2 June 2016

Angela is an ALA accredited information specialist with 20 years' experience in knowledge creation, translation, storage, retrieval and diffusion across multiple industries and disciplines. After a professional career focusing on documentary sources of information, she turned her attention toward pursuing an academic understanding of informal, oral ways of seeking and using information in remote, rural and blue collar contexts. She is currently working on modeling ways to identify and commodify local knowledges, and to mobilize that information in the form of asset-based community development. Angela is an active member of the Association for Library and Information Science Education, the Canadian Rural Revitalization Foundation, and the Canadian Association for Leisure Studies. She has taught part time at FIMS since 2007.
