Scholarly Study Places SLIS in Top 40 Contributors to Library and Information Studies Literature Worldwide

A scholarly paper published in the recent issue of the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology (JASIST) has ranked U of A's SLIS as one of the top 40 departments in the world that contribute to the LIS literature

A scholarly paper published in the recent issue of the Journal of the Association for Information Science and Technology (JASIST) has ranked U of A's SLIS as one of the top 40 departments in the world that contribute to the LIS literature (Table 6 in the paper). The research paper, titled 'Disciplinary, National and Departmental Contributions to the Literature of Library and Information Science 2007-2015', makes use of 31 journals from 2007 to 2012.

The paper ranked U of A's SLIS number 17 out of 55 schools in North America (US and Canada) and 3rd in Canada, following Western Ontario and Toronto, and ahead of McGill (ranked 19), Dalhousie (ranked 32), Montreal (ranked 34), and UBC (ranked 39). (Table 8). The focus of the reported research is on the LIS departments that have made the most contribution to the literature of LIS.
