Kirk MacLeod, SLIS Alum (2014) appointed to the University of Alberta Board of Governors

Kirk MacLeod On January 31, 2018 Kirk MacLeod (MLIS 2014) was appointed as a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Alberta. Kirk MacLeod spent the first ten years of his career in librarianship running a one-person library for Native Counselling Services of Alberta and The Nechi Training, Research and Health Promotions Institute. He received a Bachelor of Professional Arts - Communications Studies from Athabasca University, an Information Management and Library Technology Diploma from MacEwan University, and a Master in Library and Information Studies from the University of Alberta. He currently serves as the Open Data Team Lead for the Government of Alberta's Open Government Program in Service Alberta, following roles with the Alberta Government Library and the Alberta School Employee Benefit Plan. Kirk was selected as an American Library Association Spectrum Diversity Scholar in 2012, volunteers as an adult tutor for the Centre for Family Literacy, and currently serves as the President of the University of Alberta's Library and Information Studies Alumni Association. He is a member of the James Smith Cree Nation in Saskatchewan.
