About

Dr. Emily Grisé is a forward-thinking transport researcher with specializations in the areas of transport & land use planning, customer satisfaction & loyalty with public transport, pedestrian & bicycle planning, travel behaviour of disadvantaged populations (seniors and people with disabilities) and public transport planning & operations. Her work has been in collaboration with several local and regional transport agencies to directly address issues of concern to key stakeholders, while she has also provided transport expertise in the private sector. The underlying goal of her research is to develop effective policies that contribute to a more livable and sustainable society.

Courses

HGEO 470 - Geographical Information Systems for Social Science

The application of spatial analytic tools to social science topics. Assignments impart technical aspects through hands-on experience with commercial and in-house spatial analysis software. Prerequisite: EAS 221. Not available for students with credit in HGP 470 or PLAN 470.


HGEO 570 - Advanced Geographical Information Systems for Social Science

Provides spatial analytic tools to social geographers and provides a social science perspective to geoprocessing students. Examples arise from marketing, operations research, sociology, and urban and economic geography. Assignments impart technical aspects through hands-on experience with commercial and in-house spatial analysis software. Prerequisite: Consent of Instructor. Not available to students with credit in HGEO 470 or HGP 470.


PLAN 399 - Research Methods in Planning

Collection and analysis of data for social research in urban and regional planning. Research design and sampling procedures. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are explored. Fieldwork required. Prerequisites: PLAN 210 or HGP 210. Not available for students with credit in HGP 399. Restricted to Planning Major and Planning Specialization students.


PLAN 470 - Geographical Information Systems for Planning

The application of spatial analytic tools for the purposes of urban and regional planning. Prerequisite: EAS 221. Not available for students with credit in HGP 470 or HGEO 470.


PLAN 570 - Advanced GIS for Planners

The application of spatial analytic tools to planning topics. Assignments impart technical aspects through hands-on experience with commercial and in-house spatial analysis software. Sections offered at an increased rate of fee assessment; refer to the Tuition and Fees page in the University Regulations sections of the Calendar. Prerequisite: consent of Department.


PLAN 598 - Advanced Research Methods and Analysis

Collection and analysis of data for social research in planning in northern and resource communities. Research design and sampling procedures. Both qualitative and quantitative methods are explored.
