Research

We research the causes and consequences of biodiversity change in marine and freshwater ecosystems, with the goal of developing science-based tools to inform conservation and restoration actions under global change. Currently our lab is using a range of methods in the field and laboratory—including behavioural observation, manipulative field experiments, theoretical and statistical models, and time series analyses along anthropogenic gradients—  to understand how drivers like invasion, climate change, and over-exploitation are altering species interactions within aquatic food webs.  We also pair ecological and social science approaches to understand the consequences of conservation interventions for coupled human-natural systems.
