MA, MSc and PhD Programs

Science Masters and Doctoral Programs

Close to 1200 graduate students from Canada, North America, and around the world are pursuing graduate degrees offered by departments in the Faculty of Science. Our graduate programs include both course-based and thesis-based programs that leading to Master's of Science (M.Sc.) and Master's of Arts (M.A.) degrees, and thesis-based programs leading to doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees.

Through these programs, graduate students acquire knowledge and analytical skills that are at the forefront of their disciplines or areas of professional practice. Graduate students are connected with multi-sector and global research programs through our faculty’s collaborations with private and public-sector partners within Canada and around the world. Science also offers specialized graduate programs and integrated graduate training programs (NSERC CREATE programs), which offer unique training experiences in particular areas, with private sector or international elements. All graduate programs include a professional development component that helps students to develop additional skills and perspectives on their individual career paths.

Prospective students should use the department links on the left to explore the research groups in each department, our facilities and laboratories, and the admission requirements for specific graduate programs. Department websites about graduate students will also provide you with email addresses for people who can answer any specific questions you have about the programs. Or you can use this simple form to ask questions or request additional information.

The thematic areas listed under “Research Centres and Institutes” represent some of the cross-disciplinary research agendas that span more than a single department. The “Find a Supervisor” page can also be used to quickly identify faculty members whose research activities match your interests.
