I am involved in:
Besides being a science mentor, I am involved with the URI as a Research Liaison and with the Spectrum Journal. I am an author, peer-reviewer and an editorial member of the undergraduate journal.

A fun fact about me:
Sometimes I say “LOL” in real life instead of laughing…. lol

My best quality is:
I am very empathetic! If you’re an undergraduate student who’s struggling, chances are that I’ve already been in your shoes. So come to talk to me! I’d love to share my personal experiences with you:)

My best first year tip is: 
Get organized!! Buy a calendar from the bookstore or use an app - whatever that works for you. Make sure you know exactly what is due and when it is due. Don’t forget to make time to relax as well!

A fun fact about me:
I am bilingual in French and English. I was also a dancer for Team Canada and we competed in Germany.

My best quality is:
I am a very outgoing and friendly person. I am also very helpful and caring. Those personality traits make me very approachable and I love making people feel welcome.

My best first year tip is: 
Do not be afraid to go to office hours or to help rooms, those resources are in place to help with your academic success. Also, get involved in something you are passionate about.

Don't buy all your textbooks. Often times they are available in the holds room at libraries on campus, and sometimes you don't need it more than a couple of times.

My best qualities have to be that I'm extremely funny, interesting, highly entertaining, and very humble.

My best first year tip is: 

- DON'T stand in the ridiculously long lines at Tim Horton's - it's not worth it

- DO make friends in your labs to avoid an extremely boring time

I am very organized which helps me keep up with all of my work. Being organized helps me be prepared for any type of situation.

My best first year tip is: 
Don't be afraid to make new friends and talk with people you don't know. Most of the students are in the same situation.

I volunteer at a hospital and have been involved with summer camps for young kids. I really like to experiment with cooking/baking (this has gone both ways, of course).

A fun fact about me:
Deep down, I think I might be an anarchist. I don't like to dwell on this possibility too much. Also, I'm not a big fan of winter. That's probably the politest way to put it.

My best quality is:
I once had a teacher who always said there is a good thing in every bad thing. I try to live by that and appreciate every day that I have. I can be a pretty good listener too.

My best first year tip is: 
Be yourself! Don’t try to conform to anyone else’s standard of what you are supposed to be. You are, I am sure, incredible just as you are. As for school, manage your time and live by a calendar :)

I started university at sixteen years old, so I have a lot to offer in terms of adjusting to university or campus life because I had to figure it out pretty early.

My best quality is:
my personality. I think (and hopefully other people agree) I am funny, charismatic, and great to be around in general. I just love meeting new people and building new bonds.

My best first year tip is: 
School is not all about grades. I repeat a 4.0 GPA is not everything. University is a chance to network and build connections and a place to gain experience.

Manage your time. University is challenging, but taking it one step at a time will make a world of difference. Letting everything pile up until the last minute never did anyone any good.

Visit your professors to ask them questions or go over exams/assignments. You may get valuable insight. Take things one at a time and don't get discouraged!

My best first year tip is: 
Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it. You'll be surprised at how much better your university experience is when you reach out to on-campus services, your peers, and professors!

Although I really can’t skate to save my life, I’m an avid fan of hockey. I love skiing and running as my physical activity and my favourite music would have to be K-pop.

My best quality is:
Although I’m a shy person, I am always open to meeting new people and my best quality would probably be my friendliness. My first reaction to people is to be polite and good-natured. 

My best first year tip is: 
If you have the chance to, come to the university and become familiar with the surroundings. It is easier to get used to the environment when there isn’t thousands of students milling around.

A fun fact about me:
I have a birthmarks that takes up the entirety of my right hand. It's darker than my left and it leads into my wrist. I can also touch my tongue to the tip of my nose.

My best quality is:
I think one of my best qualities is being outgoing and talking to others, and also the ability to be understanding.

My best first year tip is: 
Make friends from class, hangout and study with them. Who knows, they might be your next bff. Do ask the prof for help when you need it - they want to see you succeed and ALWAYS do the practice exams.

On campus, I am a Director at ISSS and volunteer at a physiology research lab concerned with neural control of respiration. I also volunteer at a community hospital on weekly basis.

A fun fact about me:
I am extremely passionate about Math and can do it for hours straight. I can cook the most challenging Indian dishes but can't bake!

My best quality is:
I'm a good listener, always available to talk about anything and everything and I don't judge people. I will go beyond my limits to help someone and I'm the best treasure for you to lock your secrets!

My best first year tip is: 
Use your first year to learn how to learn and GET INVOLVED! Literally, get involved with lots of student groups and then gradually reduce or increase your commitments over the course of your degree.

I love travelling! And I lived in Vancouver, BC for about 16 years, so I've got experience with applying as an out-of-province student (and also experience living near beautiful beaches).

I like to look at things in a positive way as this allows me to appreciate everything that I have instead of focusing on the negatives.

My best first year tip is: 
It's often better to take classes that interest you rather than taking classes that you hear are easy. Just because it was easy for someone else, it doesn't always mean it will be easy for you.

Make an effort to join some clubs and build networks - they can be more helpful than some of your courses!

to not buy textbooks until the first week of school- some profs may never even use them. As well, look for textbooks on UofA's Used Book Registry or even Kijiji as it can save you a lot of money!

I'm a Senior UAlberta Ambassador this year, so you might see me out leading tours on campus. I'm also researching interactions between oil and different species of fish. Ask me about it!

A fun fact about me:
I love mountain biking around Edmonton's river valley! Most weekends you can find me on a trail winding up and down the riverbank.

My best quality is:
My determination. I'll teach you how to be determined too!

My best first year tip is: 
Make a schedule and use it! I love Google Calendar for this.

Since breaking my left arm in high school I have had a total of 4 metal plates and 30 screws in my arm at one point or another.

My best quality is:
My best quality is that I am dependable. If I make a plan I stick to it and I like to be the friend that others know they can count on whenever they need to.

My best first year tip is:
Don't be afraid to explore outside of your usual comfort zone! I wish someone had stressed this to me because I didn't get involved until the end of my second year and I feel like I lost that time.

I have an 8 year old fluff ball Pomeranian named Leo. I love the outdoors and camping is definitely one of my favorites. I also enjoy swimming as I work as a lifeguard and swimming instructor.

I am approachable, friendly and cooperative. My goal is to personalize your experience as a mentee for a smooth transition into first year by guiding you through both academic and social life! 

My best first year tip is: 
Good time management is very important to keep up with the fast paced lectures. Having an agenda can definitely help in terms of prioritization and organization of different tasks.

My first year tip is that you should not rush to buy your textbooks. I suggest buying textbooks after going to class because the professor will let you know if the textbook is necessary or not.

I'm loyal to people and I'm a great listener with a very neutral mindset. No judging from me :)

My best first year tip is: 
Be friends with your prof! Always ask for help, don't be shy. In such a big class everyone thinks the profs don't care but they always want the best for their students.

Go to clubs fair and sign up for every club that interests you; as many as you can! Then, once you learn more about each club, you can narrow it down to which ones you would like to be involved with.

I lived in Fredericton, New Brunswick for 4 years, where the Atlantic Ocean is only an hour away and where there's a lot of lobsters and fish but not a lot of things to do, before moving to Edmonton.

My best quality is:
I'm a people-first person, so I promise I won't ditch you when you need urgent help even if I have something important coming up.

My best first year tip is: 
Be a keener! Don't think that you're only a first-year student. Be passionate, and keep bugging people for info, work, or networking. Also the hot chocolate from the Daily Grind is the best!

Taking feedback and using it to improve my work. I bother my profs with every single detail so when it comes to the due date or exam time, I can submit my best work.

My best first year tip is: 
Join some clubs and try some new things! Because I got involved, I met some awesome people. My extracurricular experiences have helped me immensely in scholarship applications and job interviews.
The fastest Tim Hortons line on campus is the one at Lister Centre in the Marina. It's super convenient because it's also the one that opens on weekends. It has the most flexible hours, too!

I love taking up any opportunity to tour research labs around different departments on campus and learning more about emerging research.

A fun fact about me:
I have gone paragliding in Nepal once and that has been the most amazing experience of my life. Recommend. 100%

My best quality is:
I believe I am a responsible individual and people can definitely count on me.

My best first year tip is: 
Go out, enjoy all you can, but definitely study hard too and don't hesitate to face your fears. This is the time. Trust me, overcoming your fears is the most liberating feeling ever.
