Welcome Kyle Willmott, Assistant Professor of Indigenous Peoples and Social Policy
Kyle Willmott (Mohawk) studies political sociology, economic and fiscal sociology, Indigenous policy, and Indigenous-settler relations. His dissertation research examines the cultural figure of ‘the taxpayer’ in relation to Indigenous social policy, and he is broadly interested in the intersections between tax politics, the politics of policy expertise, indigeneity, and settler-colonialism. Kyle joins the Department of Sociology at U of A from Simon Fraser University, where he will soon complete his PhD in sociology. He is thrilled to join the department as Assistant Professor, starting on July 1, 2019.
