Dan Trottier and Inigo Martinez Peniche, two long-term visitors joined our department this week. They are currently sharing the Visitors' Office on the 5th floor. Please take the time to introduce yourself and welcome them to our department.

Daniel Trottier is a new post-doctoral fellow working with Dr. Kevin Haggerty. He is currently finishing his PhD at Queen's University. His doctoral research focuses on the rise of social media surveillance with
Facebook as a case study. Daniel wishes to expand on this research by studying the continued growth of information and communication technologies in everyday life, and their consequences for visibility and social sorting. Daniel is eager to connect with the academic community at the U of A, especially through guest lectures, sitting in on graduate courses, as well as informal gatherings.

Inigo Martinez Peniche is a doctoral student at the Autonomous University of Mexico. He is on an extended research trip through the USA and Canada, to study energy markets, and will be staying with us for four or five months. He will be working with Gord Laxer and others in the Parkland Institute, but is also eager to connect with faculty and graduate students in the department.
