Junior Curling

U18 - Green Team Program

Golden Bears & Pandas Curling has designed this program to prepare U18 curlers for future excellence at the post-secondary level and beyond. It combines weekly training with league games and an extensive schedule of weekend U18 and U21 competitions.

This program is aimed at the top U18 curlers in the Edmonton area entering Grade 10 or 11 in the 2018-2019 school year. Specifically, we are targeting two male and two female curlers in each of Grades 10 and 11 to make up our Bears and Pandas U18 Green Teams.

Since members of these teams will also be Green & Gold Athlete Academy students, all training takes place on Monday to Thursday afternoons from 12:15 to 3:15 pm. These teams will also play a league game on Wednesday evenings, plus as many as 10 weekend events.

All training sessions take place at the Saville Community Sports Centre, which is the home to Curling Canada’s National Training Centre. Weekend events include AJCT Bonspiels and the Alberta U18 and Junior Playdowns, and often require travel around the province.

This program exists to provide our top U18 curlers with the training and competition that they need to realize their current and future potential. Many curlers from previous iterations of this program have gone on to excel at the Junior and U Sports levels, and beyond.
