U21 - Prospects Program

Golden Bears & Pandas Curling has designed this program for promising U21 curlers who attend the University of Alberta in 2018-2019, but have not yet made on one of our U21 Varsity teams. It combines technical training with Mixed Doubles game play.

This program is aimed at current or incoming University of Alberta students with at least 2 years of U21 eligibility remaining. It includes a maximum of 3 male and 3 female curlers with the potential to make our Bears or Pandas U21 teams in the future.

This program runs from September through March. Technical training and Mixed Doubles ends take place on Mondays at 4:00 pm.  The curlers in this program are also required to play a meaningful schedule of weekend competitions with their own U21 teams.

All weekly sessions take place at the Saville Community Sports Centre, which is the home to Curling Canada’s National Training Centre. The curlers in this program will also form 3 teams that will be entered into the Alberta Mixed Doubles Championship.

This program exists to provide promising University of Alberta curlers with the coaching and training that they need to succeed at the U21 level, and ultimately to make our Golden Bears and Pandas Varsity program in the future.
