SJC Professor appointed as Kule Lecturer

Dr. Matthew Hoven, an Associate Professor at SJC, has been designated as the Peter and Doris Kule Lecturer in Catholic Religious Education for the 2018-19 academic year.

20 September 2018

The Kule Lecturer position is made possible by a generous donation from Peter and Doris Kule. This lectureship recognizes a faculty member or visiting scholar who can provide significant contributions to Catholic Religious Education in Alberta and to the students at SJC. We are very fortunate to have funding for such a position, which is not common in the field of Religious Education.
Dr. Hoven has been teaching full-time at SJC since 2009. He previously taught in local Catholic schools, at both elementary and secondary levels, and now engages with educators, students, and interested community members on a variety of topics related to Catholic Religious Education. During his current study leave, Dr. Hoven will be focusing his research on Fr. David Bauer, a Basilian priest who was involved in the establishment of the Canadian men's national ice hockey team in the 1960s.
