Dean Mortensen Day

On January 18, SJC remembers Dean Mortensen, a resident in the St. Joseph's men's residence who went missing without a trace on January 24, 1992.

It has become traditional for SJC to hold a vigil for the male residents in memory of Dean Mortensen, for the male residents to hang St. Joe's Rangers hockey jerseys out of their windows, and for SJC staff, students and residents to wear blue ribbons on Dean Mortensen Day.

This year's vigil will be at 5:00 pm in the St. Joseph's College Chapel with speaker Stephan Beland, a former SJC resident who lived in our residence the same year that Dean disappeared. Beyond that, Stephan and Dean grew up together in Grande Cache, Alberta.
