International Service Learning

Students will spend a week at Hogar Madre Anna Vitiello, an orphanage in Sumpango, Guatemala, and help enrich the lives of orphaned children living with HIV. This service work includes a component to increase spiritual awareness within oneself as a means not only to serve abroad but also to apply the experience locally in one's own community.

General Information
Students will travel during the winter term Reading Week.
Cost (including food, accommodations and travel) is approximately $1,600, plus the University of Alberta Tuition (or Audit) Fee.

This course is not offered during the 2019-2020 academic year.

The song "Anna" was written by Josh Sahunta, a former student of St. Joseph's College, who traveled to the orphanage as part of this ISL course. All footage of the video was filmed during his time in Guatemala.
