Bethany Drzewiecki
M.Sc., R.SLP, SLP(C)
Speech-Language Pathologist
Bethany began working at the Institute for Stuttering Treatment and Research (ISTAR) in July 2019. She completed her Bachelor's in Secondary Education majoring in Biological Sciences and minoring in English as a Second Language at the University of Alberta in 2015. During her Undergraduate degree she discovered ISTAR at a conference put on by the Organization of Alberta Students in Speech-Pathology (OASIS). She was immediately impressed and excited to hopefully one day be more involved with this organization.
For her final clinical placement of her Master's in Speech-Language Pathology in 2017, Bethany had the privilege to work and learn under the Clinical Director, Holly Lomheim. While there she developed many valuable clinical skills in fluency and therapeutic programming and adjustments to best meet the needs of each individual client. Upon graduating, Bethany took the skills she learned at ISTAR, other clinical placements, and student teaching practicums to Cochrane, AB, where she worked with preschool students to improve their speech, language, and communication needs.
Bethany is thrilled to have joined the ISTAR team in their Calgary office. She is proud to be a part of such a client and research-focused organization as ISTAR.
Bethany has completed specialized training or holds certification in the following areas:
- Lidcombe program for preschool and school-aged children
- Comprehensive Stuttering Program (CSP)
- It Takes Two to Talk - The Hanen program for parents
- Talkies - The Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes program for imagery development to support expressive and receptive language skills
