Heidi began working as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the Institute for Stuttering Treatment and Research (ISTAR) in early 2017. Heidi grew up in the Edmonton area, and completed her Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Psychology at the University of Alberta. She then completed her Master of Science Degree at the University of Alberta, where she received the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine Student Clinical Award.
Heidi began volunteering for ISTAR in 2011, and then completed three summers with the institute as a Research Assistant. During her various positions at ISTAR Heidi loved working with both the clinical team and all of the clients at ISTAR. In the summer of 2016 she completed a student clinical placement at ISTAR, which once again confirmed her love of working at ISTAR. Heidi has clinical experience working with clients ranging from preschool-age to adulthood, and with a variety of communication challenges and disorders. At ISTAR Heidi works with individuals with a variety of communication challenges through the Communication Improvement Program (CIP), as well as with children, teens, and adults who stutter.
