Shea Thompsen

Speech-Language Pathologist

Shea joined the ISTAR team in 2006. She works directly with adults, teens, and children who stutter - as well as the families of those who stutter - to guide them to greater fluency and meet their goals. Shea also trains and supervises speech-language pathology student interns and coordinates intensive and refresher programs. Additionally, she has been involved in the development and delivery of Communication Improvement Program (CIP) workshops. She takes a special interest in accent reduction, public speaking, and effective communication.

Shea holds a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She is certified provincially and nationally. She also maintains certification with the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), which allows her to supervise students from the USA and other countries. Shea is passionate about her work and describes her position here at ISTAR as "an absolute dream job."

Shea has completed specialized training or holds certification in the following areas:

  • Lidcombe Program for Early Stuttering Intervention: Basic (preschool) and School-age training
  • Comprehensive Stuttering Program (CSP)
