Dr. Fred Berry has taken the helm as Director of Graduate Education. After gaining a PhD. from the University of Calgary in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology he became a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Alberta Ocular Genetics Laboratory in the Department of Ophthalmology. He followed this up by being appointed an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medical Genetics. In 2009, he received the Shriners Hospital for Children Endowed chair in Pediatric Scoliosis Research. By 2013 Dr. Berry was an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and he continues to hold an adjunct appointment with the Department of Medical Genetics. Dr. Berry Says his goals are, "to continue to build on the existing strengths of the graduate program and develop a research and learning environment for the graduate students to excel."
