Le Campus Vert est le club qui tient à assurer le respect de l'environnement au CSJ. Founded in the fall of 1991, Campus Food Bank is a registered charity dedicated to eliminating hunger on the University of Alberta Campus. They provide emergency food services to members of the University of Alberta community under financial stress. As a member of the campus community, the Campus Food Bank is committed to building a greener University of Alberta through programs such as their reusable bag and egg carton donations as well as their ThinkRecycle program. Club Periodically works towards two objectives: 1) to repurpose menstrual pad wrappers through creative projects (e.g. phone cases, notebooks) and 2) to use net profits from sales to fund accessible menstrual products for students at the University of Alberta.
Enactus UAB is shaping generations of entrepreneurial leaders passionate about advancing Canada's economic, social, and environmental health.

We rally the energy, ideas, and passion for Canada’s best and brightest students who see business as a way to address social issues. Guided by academic advisors and business experts, the student leaders of Enactus create and implement community empowerment projects and business ventures in communities coast to coast.
Engineers in Action exists at the University of Alberta for the purpose of bridging the gap of isolation in developing communities around the world through the strategic design and construction of footbridges, ensuring year-round safe access to essential resources such as education, healthcare, and markets. It provides students with the opportunity for involvement, leadership and service in the social justice sector.
Engineers Without Borders UAlberta
Engineers Without Borders Canada (EWB Canada) is an organization that seeks to invest in people, advocate for systemic change, and support innovations that create a large social impact in our communities. Across Canada, EWB Canada is composed of university and professional chapters that help work towards these goals. They are an interdisciplinary team that addresses systemic issues to create an impact in our communities. Their approach embeds the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to achieve a more equitable and sustainable world. The club is open to all students of the University of Alberta, including non-engineering students, all undergraduate students and graduate students.
Global Brigades University of Alberta Chapter
Global Brigades (GB) is an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to treat the systemic challenges vulnerable communities are facing by employing a 5 Brigade system, ultimately creating long-lasting, sustainable change for these communities.
Helping Hands For Homeless Youth
Helping Hands for Homeless Youth is a non-profit student group that raises money to support and empower homeless youth. Events will be held throughout the year to help support the primarily the Edmonton youth shelter YESS (Youth Empowerment and Support Services), as well as other youth shelters around the city. Our most anticipated event is an annual Street Store in which we create a store-like environment for youth where they can shop for clothes, toiletries, and other goods -- the only payment required at this store is a smile! We hold other awareness campaigns throughout the year, such as "Youth Story," in which we interview homeless youth to gain their perspective on their life experiences.
Interdisciplinary Sciences for Climate Crisis
The climate crisis is real, and the world needs real, practical solutions to climate issues now. The Interdisciplinary Sciences for the Climate Crisis will use knowledge from different branches of science to design solution-focused research projects which we will be able to test in a lab setting. The results and methods of successful projects can then be published and implemented on campus, nationally, and even internationally.
This club's mission is to spread awareness about the feasibility and importance of green energy (including solar photovoltaic and wind generation) both for the environment and the economy.
The Students' Union's sustainability service, Sustain SU, provides peer-to-peer learning and support for all undergraduate students to incorporate sustainability into every aspect of their university experience. This includes providing sustainability-based services to the entire campus community, as well as opportunities to facilitate change on a larger scale. The UAlberta Solar Car Club is a multidisciplinary club with the aim of pushing the boundaries of renewable energy technology through the planning, designing, and manufacturing of unique, state-of-the-art solar-powered cars.
Their goal is to:
1. Design, fabricate, and test a Solar Car.2. Revise previous designs and improve on them annually.3. Compete in a Solar Car race every year.4. Give students the opportunity to learn more about Solar Cars and gain hands-on experience in designing and fabricating complex engineering systems.
University of Alberta Chapter of the Wildlife Society
The primary goals of the UofA Chapter of the Wildlife Society are to encourage communication among members of the Wildlife Society, augment educational opportunities for students in natural resource science, and prepare student members for a future in the wildlife profession.
University of Alberta Climate Advocacy Club
The purpose of this group will be to foster a community through which students in any discipline can become involved in the planning, organization, and execution of initiatives designed to fight the detrimental effects of climate change. Through this combination of a diverse set of perspectives, experiences, and community connections, we will innovate new and holistic methods for advocating for climate justice while rallying others to this cause. Furthermore, we will sponsor community outreach and education programs to raise awareness of the threat of climate change in the broader community while upholding the reputation of the university and its students as national leaders in climate advocacy.
The Eco Car team strives to push the limits of sustainable design by building zero-emission vehicles to compete in international competitions. Through participation in these competitions, the team hopes to raise awareness about different automotive technologies and provide a showpiece for sustainable and innovative solutions. The team also plans to become heavily involved in the local community. The goal is to raise awareness in as many ways as possible, including school visits (elementary to high school), presentations about alternative energies, involvement in the Edmonton Auto Show, as well as creating a visible presence across the University of Alberta campus.
World University Service of Canada
WUSC is unique among development organizations in our ability to link Canada's colleges and universities with our overseas operations in over 25 countries. We are present in more than 90 campuses across Canada, connecting postsecondary students, faculty and leaders through more than 80 WUSC Local Committees consisting of students, faculty and community partners. Our vision is a better world for all young people. It is a more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable world in which all young people, especially women and refugees, are empowered to secure a good quality of life for themselves, their families, and their communities.
Environmental and Conservation Sciences Students' Association (ECSA)
The ECSA is the official body that represents all undergraduate students within the Environmental Conservation Sciences (ENCS) program at the University of Alberta. They organize and facilitate events to encourage student socialization and promote networking, professional development and information-sharing about local environmental events, policies and decisions.
Environmental Law Students' Association
The ELSA aims to promote environmental awareness within the Faculty of Law. ELSA sponsors guest speakers representing diverse viewpoints on pressing environmental issues, endeavours to reduce the faculty's ecological footprint and organizes a variety of awareness-enhancing activities for students and faculty.
Environmental Studies Students Association
An association for the students enrolled in the Environmental Studies program through the Arts and ALES faculties. Our purpose is to bring students together and create a sense of community for those in the program.
Forest Society at the University of Alberta
The Forest Society is an organization of undergraduate and graduate students with specific interests in forestry. Their objectives are to promote the practice of good forest stewardship with respect to the concepts of sustainable yield, biodiversity, and multiple uses. They are very active, both on and off the university campus. They have a number of sports teams (men, women, and co-ed), competing in the university intramural circuit. Throughout the academic year, they host numerous social events and also participate in those hosted by the ALES faculty.
Geography and Planning Students Society
The Geography and Planning Students' Society exists to provide services to students in a Human Geography and/or Planning program, or who are interested in issues surrounding Human Geography. The Society hopes to provide a voice for Human Geography students within the Department of Earth and Atmospheric Science, as well as a venue for students to meet other students and professors within the department. The Society plans to host and facilitate workshops, events and other activities that will promote the ideas and practices of Human Geography.
Organization of Botany Students
Active for over 40 years, the OBS is a well-respected student organization within Biological Sciences, encouraging botanical interests among undergraduate and graduate students. Events include plant sales, specialty plant growing workshops, herbarium Fridays, and a 'big things walk.' The members of the club have a wide range of backgrounds from a variety of faculties.
Resource Economics & Environmental Sociology Students' Association
The REESSA is the governing body for graduate students in the Faculty of ALES' Department of REES. As the representative of students from diverse academic and cultural backgrounds, the group strives to organize events that encompass a broad range of interests, and that foster a fun and friendly environment in which to study and socialize.
