Environment Week is an annual celebration of sustainability that takes place in communities across Canada. Dating back to 1970, this week celebrates the tremendous energy, enthusiasm and initiative of Canadians who are interested and engaged in environmental conservation. The goal of Environment Week is to help citizens become more environmentally aware, and to give them the tools they need to make their communities greener and healthier places for us and for future generations.
The University of Alberta participates in Environment Week with events designed to get support staff and summer students outside in engaging with our natural heritage. Past events have included a sustainable cooking class, yoga and garden parties, campus sustainability tours, an evening profiling sustainability research on campus, bicycle tune-ups, and knowledge-building workshops.
