Student Sustainability Summit

The Student Sustainability Summit brings together like-minded students from across Alberta to make connections, discover tools, and develop skills in order to inspire sustainable changes on campus and in their communities. Since 2012, the summit has been a partnership between the University of Alberta and the Students' Union.

Over a weekend in late January, attendees participate in workshops, panels and tours along with networking and social events. Speakers from Edmonton and further afield share their professional experience working to build social justice, sustainable food systems, local economies and campus sustainability. Students leave the summit with the tools, resources and contacts needed to become the next generation of sustainability leaders in Alberta.

In the past, sessions have been hosted by City of Edmonton planners, University of University academic staff, Sustain SU volunteers, as well as organizations such as:

  • APIRG
  • Climate Access
  • Green Energy Futures
  • Keepers of the Athabasca
  • NextGen
  • Reclaim Urban Farm
  • Samson Cree Nation
  • Student Energy
  • The Landing
  • The Parkland Institute
