On Tuesday, June 5, come to main quad over lunch and enjoy free Fair Trade iced coffee, iced tea and delicious vegan cookies. Stay to learn how you can beat plastic pollution from UAlberta experts and sustainability pros. This year's World Environment Day is devoted to understanding how plastic pollution threatens life on land and at sea, and what we can do to stop it. Plus, you can find ways to get outdoors and make the most of the summer.
Games and Info Fair: Learn how to take action on plastic pollution, lower your carbon footprint and explore nature with games designed by the Office of Sustainability, Energy Management & Sustainability Operations, and Environment, Health & Safety.
Bike Checks: Sustain SU's bike mechanics will help you get your bike tuned-up in time for summer.
The following activities are only scheduled for an hour each:
11 a.m. | Green Buildings Tour: Take a guided walk through the LEED® Gold certified Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering. Learn how smart design and energy efficiency come together in a unique, modern facility. Pre-register
Noon | Ask Me Anything: it's your chance to speak with UAlberta experts about their research on how you can beat plastic pollution and protect nature.
1 p.m. | Campus Sustainability Tour: Get outdoors and discover sustainability hiding in plain sight. Learn how UAlberta is building renewable energy, conserving water, upgrading old buildings, and more. Pre-register
