Prairie Urban Farm
This one-acre mixed-crop garden is on south campus. Here, community and student participants learn about local food production through volunteer work, and educational workshops on many topics—from composting and beekeeping to planting and canning.
Green & Gold Community Garden
This two-acre garden on south campus produces more than 60 types of vegetables, herbs and flowers. All proceeds from this volunteer-run garden go to charity.
Sustain SU's Campus Community Garden
Located in East Campus Village, this is a volunteer-run, shared garden plot. This garden showcases pesticide-free, organic growing techniques.
Augustana Community Garden
Located on Augustana campus in Camrose, Alberta, this garden gives student volunteers the opportunity to learn all about gardening. The garden’s produce is donated to the Augustana cafeteria and the Augustana chapel’s Tuesday night soup suppers.
Edmonton Organic Grower's Guild Garden
This organic farm on south campus is run by community volunteers. Volunteers take the fruits, vegetables and herbs they need, and donate the rest. As a result, thousands of pounds of produce from the garden go to local charities, including the Campus Food Bank.
Jardin Communautaire/Campus Saint-Jean Community Garden
Located on Campus Saint-Jean, this garden sets a great example with its sustainable growing practices—volunteers use water responsibly, use organic waste from the student residence for compost and use organic fertilizer.
The Students’ Union Building (SUB) hosts a weekly Farmers’ Market. The market runs every Thursday (during the school year) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with vendors offering fresh, local produce and other sustainable products.
