Hey Lister! This is the sustainability competition just for you. Every March, the four towers face off against one another to reduce electricity, help the environment and claim the title of Darkest Tower.
Competing is simple. Save electricity by turning off the lights in your rooms and common areas, and make sure you're not leaving things like computers and televisions running unattended. You can save even more by washing your laundry in cold water, and using a drying rack instead of the electric dryer.
The tower that goes the darkest will win a tower-wide pizza party worth $500!
Last year, Lister residents saved 8,823.5 kWh of electricity! These efforts reduced Lister's greenhouse gas emissions by 6.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide (equivalent).
What does that mean in real terms? It's the same as:
- Taking 1.3 passenger vehicles off the road for a year
- Planting 161 trees that grow for ten years
