Statistical Analysis Using IBM SPSS

This course will introduce students to both descriptive and uni-variate inferential statistical procedures used commonly in social science research. Three different aspects of statistical reasoning will be emphasised: (1.) computational formulas and assumptions, (2.) computer applications using SPSS, and (3.) appropriate uses of uni-variate statistics. The topics we will cover include descriptive summary statistics, correlation, regression, t-tests, and analysis of variance (ANOVA). Very little time will be spent on data manipulation and data transformation (as these topics are covered in the SPSS Application)
