- Catherine Anley, Employment Equity Advisor, Human Resource Services - received a 2017 Achievement Award for APOs, FSOs and Librarians
- Charlene Chan, Student, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - received the Academic Achievement Student Award from the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists
- Martin Davies, Faculty Services Officer, Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - received a 2017 Achievement Award for APOs, FSOs and Librarians
- Steven Devenney, Student, Faculty of Law - won the Justice Canada Human Rights Video Competition
- Darryl Hopkins, Facilities, U of A Libraries - received a 2017 Support Staff Recognition Award
- Tammy Hopper, Professor and Vice-Provost (Programs), Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - received the Honours of the College Award from the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists
- Glen Jickling, Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry - named the Heart & Stroke Foundation's 2017/18 Barnett Scholar
- Kerrie Johnston, Assistant Chair (Administration), Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science - received a 2017 Achievement Award for APOs, FSOs and Librarians
- Amir Khadem, PhD Student, Department of Modern Languages and Cultural Studies, Faculty of Arts - awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal, the U of A's highest honour for academic excellence bestowed upon graduating doctoral students
- Sean Molesky, PhD Student, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering, Faculty of Engineering - awarded the Governor General's Gold Medal, the U of A's highest honour for academic excellence bestowed upon graduating doctoral students
- Taylor Paetker, Student, Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine - received the Clinical Achievement Student Award from the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists
- Gloria Strathern, Prizes & Awards Coordinator, Faculty of Law - received a 2017 Support Staff Recognition Award
- Rosa-Ileana Strelkov, Plant Molecular Pathology Technician, Department of Agricultural, Food & Nutritional Science, Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences - received a 2017 Support Staff Recognition Award
- U of A Advanced Water Research Lab - awarded a $600,000 grant through the federal government's Oil Spill Response Science program
- Green and Gold Community Garden - awarded a Senate of Canada 150 Medal
