Dr. Steven Dew, Provost and Vice-President (Academic), has asked that a Selection Committee for the 2018 Henry Marshall Tory Chairs be established in accordance with university procedures as outlined in UAPPOL. Named for Henry Marshall Tory, the first President of the University, Tory Chairholders are outstanding individuals who by their presence will enhance the reputation of the University.

Committee Vacancies available:

Two members from Categories A1.1, A1.6, or their counterparts in A 1.5 and A1.7

Committee Schedule:

The first meeting will occur in late July to early August 2018. Nominees may anticipate 2–3 meetings per year over their two year term. For further information about meetings, please contact Curtis Champagne (curtisc@ualberta.ca).

General Faculties Council (GFC) will accept nominations from eligible academic staff members to fill the two committee positions until 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018.

Nomination Process for Selection Committee Vacancies:

1. A nominee must agree to stand for election and be available throughout the process timeline.

2. The online nomination form may be completed and submitted by either the nominee (self-nomination) or a nominator.

3. Nomination form requires a biographical sketch (of approx. 150 words) and a brief statement outlining the nominee’s interest to actively serve on the committee (of approx. 150 words).

4. Nominee’s name, Faculty, staff category and academic bio/interest statement will be placed on the GFC voting ballot for election purposes.

5. Nomination form must be received prior to the nomination deadline.
