Each fall, the Office of the Vice-President (Research) and the Kule Institute for Advanced Study co-host Open Minds in celebration of talented and innovative humanities and social sciences colleagues at the University of Alberta. The event features lightning talks from researchers funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). It showcases the importance of their work in helping us better understand ourselves and our world through the study of people and society.

This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, November 27th, in the Telus Centre (Room 150 and the Atrium), and you are invited to attend.

Event details:

Doors open at 4:00 pm, refreshments will be available
Program of speakers begins at 4:30 pm (Room 150)
Reception at 5:30 pm (TELUS Centre Atrium)

It is SSHRC’s 40th birthday! The University of Alberta is proud to have many researchers whose work is supported by SSHRC funding and we are happy to honor SSHRC’s birthday by showing off our research (and sharing some cake and balloons!). Dr Tim Wilson, Executive Director of Research Grants and Partnerships at SSHRC, will be joining us for the occasion. So I hope you will be in attendance to show your support for our SSHRC-funded researchers and to celebrate 40 years of SSHRC funding in our research community.
