Have you met Steven, Assistant Director of the Canadian Institute for Ukrainian Studies? Spend the next few minutes getting to know him a little better.

What is your first U of A memory?

It was in 2007 when we just arrived from Texas and visited a friend who was a graduate student at U of A. On seeing at the campus, we fell in love with the university. I promised myself that I would work with the university at some point. That happened in 2014 and it has been a great journey since then.

What’s something your coworkers don’t know about you?

Many of my co-workers don’t know that I have taught several courses in several universities in the US and China.

What’s your favourite distraction?

Co-workers dropping by with good news e.g. donation cheques.

If you were enrolling in one course, program or degree right now, what would it be?

It would be a course in Law.

What’s a weird pet peeve you have?

Asking questions during a movie.

If you could see any live performance tomorrow, what would it be?

An orchestra concert.

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Add more fun to work. Incorporate some fun while working hard

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

I can’t live without reading. I love reading!

What three words describe your U of A experience?

Engaging. Motivating. Supportive.
