Logo Placement & Multiple Logos

The University of Alberta logo should be placed in a visually dominant position on the left or right of any format. Centre placing should generally be avoided. Top left placement is preferred, although there may be times when placement to the top right or bottom left or right is the only sensible solution.

Use of the standard University of Alberta logo is always preferred. However, if a sub-unit logo is needed, the university logo and sub-unit logo should never appear on the same visual surface. In these instances, the sub-unit logo should be used as the primary logo for the application.

When the university or sub-unit is identified as the owner of the application, then that logo should always be placed in a dominant position.

When the university or sub-unit is identified as a partner, then the logos should be placed together respecting the logo clear space rules. You can also use a .25 pt vertical line between the logos when they are placed horizontally.

When the university or sub-unit is identified as the subordinate, then the subordinate logo should be placed opposite of the dominant logo.

When the university or sub-unit is identified as a sponsor, the logo must be readable and retain the required minimum clear space to ensure proper recognition. If multiple sub-units are identified as sponsors then only one logo (the university logo) should be used.
