Aga Khan Garden

Project Description:

The Aga Khan Garden honours the long-standing relationship between the Aga Khan and UAlberta. Made possible by a $25 million contribution from the Aga Khan, the garden incorporates elements from other Mughal Islamic gardens while featuring North American plants and topography. The 4.8-hectare garden includes secluded forest paths, wide-stepped terraces that change with the seasons and geometric water features that stream into natural wetlands.

Nîpisîy House (formerly East Campus Village 9)

Project Description:

On the heels of the successful East Campus Infill projects, Nîpisîy House is the last major residential project in East Campus Village (ECV). This coed residence will be home to about 300 students; its rooms will be available in four- and six-bedroom units. Located between 89 and 90 Avenue, and just east of 111 Street, the residence will accommodate upper-year undergraduate students (students in their second year through graduation). 

Nîpisîy House will bring UAlberta closer to its goal to provide on-campus housing to 25 per cent of its full-time students. The building's scale, profile and materials are influenced by the Sector 8 Plan, the Long Range Development Plan and UAlberta's Guidelines for Infill Development-Garneau. The building is expected to earn three Green Globes.

Chalifoux Hall (formerly Lister 5)

Project Description:

Chalifoux Hall is a coed residence for first-year students. The building will be incorporated into the existing four Lister towers and will accommodate about 426 students. 

Linked to the other buildings in the Lister community, Chalifoux Hall will directly contribute to the culture within the neighbourhood. Residents will have easy access to the many student support services and resources that are highly concentrated in this area. The residence will also bring UAlberta closer to its goal to provide guaranteed housing to all first-year students. Chalifoux Hall will be located east of 117 Street, south of Mackenzie and Henday Hall. The building is aiming to earn three Green Globes
