Aga Khan Garden

Project Description:

The Aga Khan Garden honours the long-standing relationship between the Aga Khan and UAlberta. Made possible by a $25 million contribution from the Aga Khan, the garden incorporates elements from other Mughal Islamic gardens while featuring North American plants and topography. The 4.8-hectare garden includes secluded forest paths, wide-stepped terraces that change with the seasons and geometric water features that stream into natural wetlands.

East Campus Village 9 Residence

Project Description:

On the heels of the successful East Campus Infill projects, East Campus Village 9 Residence is the last major residential project in East Campus Village (ECV). This coed residence will be home to about 300 students; its rooms will be available in four- and six-bedroom units. Located between 89th and 90th avenues, and just east of 111th street, the residence will accommodate upper-year undergraduate students (students in their second year through graduation). 

East Campus Village 9 Residence will bring UAlberta closer to its goal to provide on-campus housing to 25 per cent its full-time students. The building's scale, profile and materials are influenced by the Sector 8 Plan, the Long Range Development Plan and UAlberta's Guidelines for Infill Development-Garneau. The building is expected to earn three Green Globes.

Lister 5 Residence

Project Description:

Lister 5 Residence is a coed residence for first year students. The building will be incorporated into the existing four Lister towers and will accommodate about 520 students. 

Linked to the other buildings in the Lister community, Lister 5 Residence will directly contribute to the culture within the neighbourhood. Resident students will have easy access to the many student support services and resources that are highly concentrated in this area. The residence will also bring UAlberta closer to its goal to provide guaranteed housing to all first-year students. Lister 5 Residence will be located east of 117th street, south of Mackenzie and Henday Halls. The building is aiming to earn three Green Globes

Research and Collections Resource Facility

Scheduled Completion: Fall 2017

Project Description:

The Research and Collections Resource Facility (RCRF) will be the first purpose-built, long-term storage facility for UAlberta’s valuable book, map and archive collection. Located on South Campus, the RCRF will not only receive, process and store valuable resources, but will also be a central point for research. The facility will include a reading room for prearranged study, a library, and storage, sorting and processing areas. RCRF will replace the existing Book and Records Depository (BARD), which is located in leased space on 50th street in Edmonton.
