The Aga Khan Garden honours the long-standing relationship between the Aga Khan and UAlberta. Made possible by a $25 million contribution from the Aga Khan, the garden incorporates elements from other Mughal Islamic gardens while featuring North American plants and topography. The 4.8-hectare garden includes secluded forest paths, wide-stepped terraces that change with the seasons and geometric water features that stream into natural wetlands.
The Aga Khan Garden was selected by the editors of Where Canada as one of Canada's Best New or Improved Attractions of 2018 for representing a significant milestone in tourism. Attractions are recognized for their uniqueness and diverse appeal and are highly recommended to visitors of the area.
