Contractor Safety

The University is transitioning from CQN Advantage to CQ Network

The University of Alberta is transitioning Contractors from CQN Advantage to CQ Network Contractor Safety Prequalification platform. The transition is taking place from May 15, 2020 to June 15, 2020. The new platform operates on a contractor co-pay model, which requires an annual subscription fee. This is an industry standard and it’s anticipated the new system will require less personnel time in completing data fields as compared to CQN Advantage. In order to remain eligible to continue performing work for the University of Alberta or Contractors that would like to be eligible, the following are the requirements:

  • Build a profile in CQ Network
  • Submit supporting health and safety related documentation (including WCB clearance letter and premium rate statement, health and safety manual, certificate of insurance) for review
  • Complete the University of Alberta's additional safety pre-qualification questionnaire
  • Maintain a subscription to the CQ Network system

Contractors are required to ensure their account remains up to date and in good standing.

In order to prepare you for the upcoming transition, here are a few tips:

  • Documents will not be able to be synced to your CQ Network account. It would be a good idea to save all CQN Advantage documents to a folder on your desktop so you have them handy when creating your account.
  • Questionnaire answers will be able to be synced to your CQ Network account. There are questions that are required for approval, which includes the HSE Performance data: please ensure you have completed the data for 2017, 2018 and 2019.
  • CQN provides a desktop evaluation of health, safety and environmental systems for all subscribers. The evaluation is administered by credentialed health and safety professionals and assesses selected performance, legislative and industry best practices.
