Smoke or Fire
If you see fire or smoke
- Pull nearest alarm - These can be found at fire exits.
- Leave the building immediately through the nearest marked fire exit. Do NOT use elevators or pedways. Close doors behind you.

- Once outside the building, move to the muster point, if you know where it is, or to an adjacent building.
- Call 911 and then Protective Services (780-492-5050) to report the location of the fire.
- Do NOT re-enter the building until permitted to do so by emergency responders.
- Notify emergency responders if a building occupant might still be inside.
If you are trapped by fire
- Block smoke from entering the room by inserting towels, blankets or clothing under the door.
- Get low and stay as far away from the fire as possible. Get to a window if you can.
- Call 911 and provide your exact location. Signal from a window.
If you encounter smoke

- Ensure your staff, students, and visitors know your evacuation procedures.
- Take fire extinguisher training.
