Number: Variable (1-3)
Conditions: Awarded, in first order, to a student or students with satisfactory academic standing in an official Music Program at any Alberta post-secondary institution who is/are planning to study music in Austria. In the absence of qualified registered student candidates, the award may be given to an advanced musician, post-doctoral fellow or junior music instructor wishing to advance their music skills through the study of music in Austria. Selection will be based on musical merit as demonstrated in an audition and interview. This award is given to support the individual’s expenses (travel, accommodation, tuition/registration fees) incurred during the study in Austria.

Auditions: Finalists will be invited to auditions held at the University of Alberta the evening of January 15th, 2020 at Convocation Hall. The audition includes up to fifteen minutes of musical performance and a brief interview of up to ten minutes. We ask that performers be prepared to perform repertoire that demonstrates three contrasting styles or genres, and for singers, three different languages. Composers and musicologists should contact the Coordinator to determine an equivalent demonstration of accomplishment (e.g. papers, compositions). It is the responsibility of auditionees to provide an accompanist if required. Applicants selected for an audition will be notified of their audition date and time.
