Prof. Guillaume Tardif announced as 2012's Visiting Professor in Innsbruck

The Wirth Institute announces that the 2012 Innsbruck Visiting Professor will be Associate Professor Guillaume Tardif of the Department of Music.

The Wirth Institute announces that the 2012 Innsbruck Visiting Professor will be Associate Professor Guillaume Tardif of the Department of Music. Professor Tardif, who earned his Doctor of Musical Art degree at the Eastman School of Music, teaches violin and viola. Holder of an Executive MBA from the Alberta School of Business, Professor Tardif also teaches on the theme of culture and creativity from music and business perspectives.

Each year, as part of a series of exchange agreements signed between the University of Alberta and the University of Innsbruck, one UAlberta Faculty of Arts professor is chosen to teach in Innsbruck for a month, and one University of Innsbruck professor is chosen to teach in Edmonton for the same length of time. Past UAlberta Innsbruck Visiting Professors include Bernard Linsky of the Department of Philosophy and David Marples of the Department of History and Classics. Professor Helga Ramsey-Kurz of the Department of English of the University of Innsbruck will be in residence in the UAlberta Department of English and Film Studies in Fall, 2012.

Other agreements between the two universities provide the opportunity for the exchange of students and for the development of additional cooperative undertakings. Applications to participate in the new student exchange program will be accepted until February 29. An information session about this program and other study abroad opportunities in Austria will be held on Thursday, February 9 from 3:30-5:0 in BUS 1-6.
