Wirth Institute Launches Community Legacy Awards

To mark its 20th year, and to celebrate two decades of co-operation and collaboration with local Central European communities, the Wirth Institute has announced that it will be funding a series of Community Legacy Awards, the recipients of which are to be announced at the Institute's 20th Anniversary Banquet on August 31st, 2018.

The awards, which range in value from $2000 to $5000 each, are intended to support any individual or community based project(s), which capture and celebrate the immigrant experience theme and are open to members of the communities of all seven Wirth countries in Canada (Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia). The main aim of the award is to benefit, highlight and/or honour the immigrant communities as well as their individuals, and their experiences in Canada.

Some of the possible project ideas include:

-art installations

-language school libraries

-publications and/or recordings

-performances
